Tourism Sustainability Plan for the Gozón Destination. Looking Toward the Far North.
AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE DEPARTMENT OF THE PRESIDENCY, DEMOGRAPHIC CHALLENGES, EQUALITY, AND TOURISM OF THE PRINCIPALITY OF ASTURIAS AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF GOZÓN, FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE TOURISM SUSTAINABILITY PLAN FOR THE GOZÓN DESTINATION, WHICH IS PART OF THE 2022 TOURISM SUSTAINABILITY PLAN FOR THE PRINCIPALITY OF ASTURIAS, FUNDED BY THE EUROPEAN UNION – NEXT GENERATION EU.
The Gozón Destination Tourism Sustainability Plan is the strategic tool that guides the municipality’s tourism development based on criteria of territorial balance, competitiveness, and environmental responsibility. Its purpose is to consolidate a sustainable tourism model aligned with Gozón’s identity, landscape, and social reality.
As a sub-identity integrated into the Gozón tourism brand, the Gozón Destination Tourism Sustainability Plan represents its planning and institutional dimension. While the brand promotes the destination, the plan defines the roadmap that guides its future evolution, ensuring coherence, order, and a medium- and long-term vision.
The slogan “Looking toward the north of the north” sums up this strategic vision. It refers not only to Gozón’s unique geographic location, but also to an attitude: anticipating, planning, and moving forward with foresight. Sustainability is thus understood as a structural commitment, not as an afterthought.
The Plan is organized around four main pillars: Pillar 1. Green and Sustainable Transition: aimed at upgrading roads and infrastructure and restoring the landscape of public spaces, structures, and facilities; Pillar 2. Improving Energy Efficiency: aimed at enhancing the destination’s mobility and walkability, and contributing to climate change mitigation; Pillar 3. Digital Transition: aimed at improving processes through the use of technology; Pillar 4. Competitiveness: This includes initiatives to create and enhance new facilities in the destination, as well as actions related to the continuous improvement of destination management.
